Settlers of Catan - Tips and Strategies For the Basic Game
One of the great things about Settlers of Catan and its variable installation is that each game is different. Each session is a new puzzle to be solved to determine how best to exploit the resources of Catan. Here are some basic principles to help determine the best way to resolve Catan. The first and most important principle, the strategy is: the production of resources is everything, and (unlike the first perception of Catan can be) the variety of resources is secondary, even trivial. Clicking on the city or in what direction to expand to, your first priority is to choose a path that will produce the most resources. I often say that beginners are not sure how to put their settlements to start is to find the intersection with the most points. Work for beginners, and the strategy for advanced players is no different. Many players believe that having access to the five resources is the way forward. But if you have no chance of resources will not help. What you should concentrate on is having many varieties, not many resources. Number of varieties, what I mean is that production in a wide variety of possible die rolls. Of course, focus on high probability numbers than before. In my starting position, the ideal scenario is to have a production system 6, 8, 9, and 5. No matter what the resources are. It is rare to find the location, which provides that, generally so content with 3 out of 4 numbers above the highest production. Having a series of numbers to ensure a constant production of resources, regardless of whether the trend of the dice one way or another. Whether all these hexagons are sheep, I would have preferred quantity over quality. Surplus resources can always be traded and became what you want in any way. There is no such thing as a valuable resource. The second priority after my numerous varieties is to maximize production across the ports. I look for the highest positions of two hexagons have the same resource, near its port. Do not start the port, lack of production resources at the beginning of the game is lame. But make it a priority to build the port later. Having a port helps you make self-sufficient. Being disabled is better than having to trade to get what you need. The other players will only trade if the deal helps them, doing crafts win-win. I was much better than me, just to win instead of win-win, so I look at the ports to help them enough. After obtaining diversity in production numbers, and then see what can happen to have. There are two main strategies that the flow depending on the resources that are strong in: settlements and roads: If your strong brick and wood, this will make the production easier to solve, and production naturally. Longer route will be a big part of your winning strategy. Cities and development councils: If you are stronger than in minerals and grain, this is the way forward. All things being equal, if your choice is between focusing on a new installation or improvement of a city, after the update in a city. In general, the points where they already have a solution superior to the spots, without settlements, otherwise the settlement would not put in place. It is best to double production in a large expansion in the production of mediocrity. Ultimately, being flexible to go where the door of resources. Establish a goal for each round to build something. Each round to get something on the table. Even if only a path. It is best to obtain a good thing for the Council now that the best thing on the card in a lap later. When shopping, if you're trying to get a city or a solution, do whatever it takes to get what you want in this turn, even if it's bad for you. It is better to have face time for a cheaper solution. If you lose the ability to build out of ten, then nothing, but the scores will be extended and has lost his chance. I hope these suggestions have been helpful. You can solve all your Catan to be rich, and play with honor!
