Build Your Own Computer: Picking a CPU is the First Step

The most important step, in fact, the first in the construction of computers, is the selection of a CPU. Virtually all authorities in the field will tell you that is the case, and a very good reason. The design of the whole system is based on this selection. The processor determines the type of connector on the motherboard, it gives a good idea of the power requirements for the team and, of course, speed is capable of. Multiple CPUs can be used effectively in different units. What would be ideal for Web browsing and word processing may be insufficient for use in a computer game. In the opposite situation, the player would have a more powerful CPU needs of a person who wants to build a basic PC. It would be like buying a Ferrari when it needed was a Toyota Nice or loss. When deciding on a CPU, I suggest you ask yourself the following questions. First, the speed of your computer has to go? In the above example of a basic PC can be achieved by the chips that are being at rock bottom prices, which of course are far from the top of the speed scale. My advice is do not get the chips cheaper, and much slower there, unless the price is the main concern. Get something a notch or two faster, if your needs grow later. Secondly, it can afford to spend? The last CPU to sell for several hundred dollars, but the chips that are much faster sells almost only a fraction of that amount. It has everything to do with the strong competition in the industry to offer new and better products to market. What was the crown jewel of a company a month ago, is now a discount. There are great opportunities to be had. Third, have the chips have a reputation for running hot? This should not cause the reverse, especially for assets such as games, 3-D animation, and so on. But not influence the design of the computer, perhaps guide you to a water cooling system. Michael Quarles is the author of "Building a PC for Beginners".
